Other Counties' Projects

The Scenic Area gave Gorge counties the option of implementing the Management Plan through their land use ordinances. Five of the six Gorge counties have chosen to do so and administer their own land use ordinances consistent with the Scenic Area Management Plan, just as they manage other aspects of development. These counties are Multnomah, Hood River, and Wasco counties in Oregon, and Clark and Skamania counties in Washington. The Gorge Commission’s Executive Director administers the Scenic Area land use ordinance for Klickitat County, Washington.

Each county has its own land use application forms and process. If you are proposing development in a Gorge county other than Klickitat, you will be working directly with that county’s planning staff. Similarly, if you have questions or would like to comment on a land use decision in a county other than Klickitat, you should contact the planning department in the appropriate county.
