What is the Gorge Commission?
The Columbia River Gorge Commission was established in 1987 to develop and implement policies and programs that protect and enhance the scenic, natural, cultural and recreational resources of the Gorge, while encouraging growth within existing urban areas of the Gorge and allowing development outside urban areas consistent with resource protection.

Office Hours
The Columbia River Gorge Commission’s office will be open Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm. Due to budget reductions and staffing availability there are times that the Gorge Commission office is closed on short notice. We apologize for the inconvenience this presents to those of you who are requesting our services. Please contact our office before you come, to ensure that staff will be here to assist you. Thank you.
Hours of Planner-on-Duty:
A planner will be available for public inquiries at the Commission office from 8 am to noon and from 1 pm to 5 pm Monday through Thursday. The Gorge Commission remains committed to high quality public service and will respond to all inquiries promptly. We value our customers, associates and sovereign partners, and thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
