Indicators
Vital Signs Indicators Project:
Project summary
Progress Update:
The Indicators Project has been making great progress! Click here to view a brief timeline of the project. The Community and Technical Advisory Teams met regularly over the last six months to develop a set of vital signs indicators – high level measures of Gorge health that are not only grounded in good science, but are important to members of the community as well.
The Assessment Committee granted a preliminary approval of the whole package on April 25th with a few minor changes. On May 13th, 2008 the Chair of the Assessment Committee presented the draft indicators to the full Commission for adoption. The Commission approved the entire package of indicators as proposed with the understanding that some minor changes may need to be made as a result of the research and analysis that will be conducted in the near future.
Commission staff Staff has been working with indicators consultant Jeff Tryens and graduate intern Aaron Ferguson on the development of more detailed work plans for each indicator over the last several weeks. Staff will be presenting the Commission with a draft work plan for each set of indicators at the July 8, 2008 Commission meeting. The following materials have been provided to the Commission:
Memo to the Commission titled: 2009 Vital Signs indicators update
Table of projected indicator data status for the first indicators report
Draft work plan for the indicators - by goal
In the near future, staff will also begin the process of developing agency performance measures, which has been commonly referred to as “Phase 2” of the Vital Signs Indicators Project. More information about agency performance measures will posted here as it becomes available.

To increase communication amongst advisory team members a wiki site was created to allow the members to continue their discussions and work in between meetings at times that worked better with their busy schedules. Team and sub-group members were able to discuss draft documents and add their concerns and comments in one working document. The site was hosted through the Columbia Gorge Community College Distance Learning site. The wiki site was recently closed, but only after the draft indicators were created, chairs of the advisory teams issued their final reports and the duties of the teams had been fulfilled. Hard copies of the wiki will be available upon request. If you have any questions about the wiki please contact Michele Dailey at (509) 493-3323 extension 232 or by sending her an email by clicking here.
